Whether it’s personal fitness goals, running a marathon, or competing at a high level, the care and support you give your feet can help make all the difference.

Sports podiatry is a specialist area of podiatry that looks closely at the way your body moves (your gait) and functions (your biomechanics). With an understanding of the type of activities you participate in, and how your body needs to function to be at its best, we can help you optimise performance and reduce the likelihood of pain or injury.

Recreational

Keeping fit, playing in your local sports club or training at the gym are all part of a healthy, active lifestyle. Unfortunately, overuse injuries can be common. You don’t have to be an elite athlete to prioritise the wellbeing and performance of your body, and we regularly see patients who simply want to be able to continue to enjoy their favourite sporting activities. Our aim is to help you get back to doing the things you love - injury free, and with the right support and advice to prevent further niggles or issues.

Kids in sport

We love working with kids and the enjoyment we get from keeping kids active, healthy and pain free is one of the best parts of our job. We have extensive experience working with and treating active children and know that a growing and active child can be at risk of injury to tissues due to muscle weakness and tightness and increased joint mobility. Our assessment looks at the whole child, including their weekly activity loads, activities (often multiple), growth and milestones, footwear and their individual biomechanics. Often children will only need advice on footwear, strengthening/stretching exercises and guidance on load management, however at times an orthoses can assist in reducing additional load and reducing pain so we can keep them active (and happy!)

Elite athletes

With extensive experience working in multidisciplinary sports medicine clinics and within elite sports teams, Anna has had the privilege of working closely with many professional athletes from a range of sporting codes over the last 20 years. Elite athletes often have more pressure to return to sport quickly and therefore we often work collaboratively alongside Sports Medicine Doctors, Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Coaches, Strength and Conditioning and GPs in order to achieve the best outcome.
